ClickToEat Food Delivery App

Project overview

ClickToEat is a food delivery web application created to help restaurants widen their audience and increase the turnover of their dishes. The website is designed to be easily compatible with smartphones and tablets as well. The users select items from the menu, add them to the cart, pay, and wait for them to be delivered. The website has an admin panel where managers of each restaurant can view and edit the information about:

  • products;
  • menus;
  • prices;
  • customers;
  • orders.

The users can choose any dish from the menu of any restaurant in the system and purchase it by selecting:

  • the product itself;
  • the product’s quantity;
  • size and other features;
  • delivery or pickup address;
  • time of delivery or pickup;
  • payment options.

Client

The client is a private company from Israel working in a restaurant business and developing software for the restaurant sphere.

Challenge

Restaurant business as a large market with an enormous competition inside. The idea of the project was to improve the business management system and service quality, simplify business processes control, and increase profitability.

First of all, we had a fragmented database system that we had to join and structure.

Then we should have integrated a Stripe payment system. Finally, we needed to integrate with Google Maps API to build a dynamic courier view mapping.

Development process

The task was to create a convenient server-side rendering single-page application as a virtual representation of a real restaurant. Throughout the development process, we used services for payments, notifications, data storage, and continuous integration and delivery.

In this project, we used a Digital Ocean scalable computing service. To provide seamless team collaboration, we followed the Scrum project management approach.

Result

The web application is used by thousands of restaurants and their clients from all over the world to deliver and order food using credit cards. Users get the opportunity to easily order and get desired dishes anywhere and at any time.
